In 2011 I retired as a professor from Ohio University, where I had taught magazine journalism and graphic design. Retirement has allowed me to return to painting full time. I had painted only occasionally since my college years, so I've had much to relearn and rediscover. My style is still evolving, but I like unnaturally bright colors and overly stylized forms. Fabrics and painted ceramics are as much my inspirations as the flowers in my no longer quite so neglected garden. My work is signed "Tichenor" to keep a promise made to my siblings many years ago. I live near Athens, Ohio, with a purebred mutt named Fezzik, 8.
